Two storytellers sit, waiting for the bus
to arrive, not getting out from the
heated car positioned near the stop sign.
Looking straight ahead, imagining again,
What would it be like if snow wasn’t white?
How ‘bout if it were green, it’d give
the illusion that it was a thick full grass
on the lawns of winter with roads looking
like great highways of moss and ferns.
Trees would be as full as they are in Summer.
And if it were blue, it’d look as if the
entire town was a river, or like one of those
commercials for Royal Caribbean or the Bahamas.
Red would be particularly weird, gross like
a blood soaked site of some crazy massacre.
The best would be if each individual snowflake
was a different color, then they could fall
to the ground like those candy decorations on
cupcakes, some call them jimmies, while others
call them sprinkles, now that would be strange.

after January I try wishing the snow away..it never works but I always try
Wonderful thought! Lovely post. I traveled to Gatlinburg this past weekend. They have a winter festival and decorations looked a lot like Christmas. One of the most beautiful trees had multicolored very light neon colors.....Very enticing...I can see your snow like that....as is your writing

oh man, you got me giggling here. lovely. love that top colourful shot too
It sure would be nice to see green grass again. Ours is covered in a blanket of snow - still! I love feeling grass between my toes on a warm summer day and I love the smell of new cut grass. I liked your poem and these are thoughts it invoked.
Have a green day Thursday.
LL,
You have a way of picking ideas for your poems that is magnificent and very creative...
I liked the conclusion of the poem and how you ended it in a humorous way.
I like the world so much better with all of the varying colors surrounding me, sometimes its harder to open my eyes to actually see them though!
I think God got it right with the white though (much as I'm pretty tired of it right now).
I like this piece - very fanciful and unusual.
Kat
